    Kimmel was born on 13th November, 1967, in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Mill Basin. He grew up in a Catholic family, his father's name is John Kimmel, and his mother's name is Joann Iacono. He has two other siblings named Jonathan Kimmel, and Jill Kimmel. When Kimmel was 9, they moved to Las Vegas.

    Before joining UNLV, he graduated from Ed W. Clark High School and attended UNLV for one year. He then transferred to Arizona State University. Kimmel received an honorary degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in 2013.
